-
- You are running AmigaDos 3.0 or higher right? If not your stuck with ALYNX a
- text based browser, if you are, then there's AMosiac, IBrowse, and AWEB.
- AMosiac and Ibrowse require MUI also for it's GUI so you would need a copy of
- that, You can find them at www.omnipresence.com.
-
- Or you can get AWEB, it doesn't use MUI. It's a released version so it's on
- Aminet.
-
- As for whats the best. You'll have to make up your own mind. AWEB only
- support HTML2 right now, but it suppositly does that well, and if you don't
- like MUI, then thats the way to go.
-
- Amosiac 2.0 is still Beta, and is not being worked on anymore. At least right
- now. It's pretty stable if you use the newest MUI 3.3. It has built in ftp
- and mailto support where as AWEB uses some arexx scripts which arn't all that
- great if you ask me. It only supports 1 network connection though so it's
- slower then the other 2.
-
- Ibrowse is also still Beta. The Demo versions that have been out so far
- havn't supported ftp or mailto or anything else YET, but it will on the final
- release. It supports HTML2, but also some HTML3/Netscape commands including
- backgrounds. It opens Multiable Network connections, only 4 with the Demo
- version. Built in gif and jpeg support so that you get Image decoding
- onscreen while it's loading up. It's still buggy, more so for some people
- then others. Some say it's always crashing, for me it hasn't crashed in quite
- some time, though I do see quite a few problems.
-
- You can also have the drastic option like myself and many others to run a Mac
- Emulator, either Emplant, or Shapeshifter, and then use Netscape. You can
- then access most of the Web pages out there correclly (It may not be
- standered, but thats what's being supported at this time), you can also use
- RealAudio, Java,. etc depending on what processor you have and the amount of
- RAM on your system. You just really can't have anything more then a 16 color
- screen without a graphics card as screen updates are just to slow.
-
-
- P.S. There's also Mindwalker thats part of ESCOM's Amiga Surfer Package.
- Whats up with that now with the Amiga being sold once again who knows.
- I've seen a few pictures and it looks pretty good, but thats all I know about
- that. There's was also Juggler I believe was being worked on, but there's
- been no Demo versions posted YET!
